Jonathan L. Wertman (Associate)
Jonathan L. Wertman is the son of the Honorable William T. Wertman, Jr., Family Court Judge for the 24th Judicial Circuit, consisting of Berkeley and Jefferson Counties, and Mrs. Janis B. Wertman, a school nurse at Spring Mills Middle School and Marlowe Elementary. Jonathan is a life-long resident of West Virginia and is pleased to return home to Martinsburg following graduation from West Virginia University’s College of Law in 2008. While in law school, Jonathan was awarded the school’s 2005-2006 Spilman, Thomas & Battle scholarship.
Prior to enrolling in law school, Mr. Wertman graduated magna cum laude from WVU in 2005, where received his Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts. During the course of his studies, Jonathan became the first-ever Art History major to be awarded the prestigious Davis Art Scholarship. Additionally, Jonathan is a 2000 graduate of Martinsburg High School, where he lettered in soccer and track, in addition to excelling academically.
Mr. Wertman was previously employed as a law clerk with the firm prior to being admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of West Virginia in January 2010. Since joining the firm as an attorney, Jonathan has focused his practice primarily on matters of civil litigation and insurance defense. Additionally, Mr. Wertman has experience in criminal defense, collections, wills and estate planning, business organizations, real estate transactions and even copyright/trademark infringement matters.
In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys cooking, drawing and playing soccer. He is also an avid Mountaineer fan and enjoys watching WVU football and basketball with family and friends. He now welcomes his family and friends to stop in and say hello and offers his services to those within the community in need of legal assistance.
